Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters in just 30 short days, which will introduce fans to a new generation of heroes and villains in this galaxy far, far away. Today, Empire Magazine has released a new photo of the villainous Kylo Ren, portrayed by Adam Driver, who hasn't said much about his nefarious character. The actor revealed to the site that he has never thought of Kylo Ren as "evil," comparing his character to a religious fanatic.

"When they think of their actions as morally justified, it makes them dangerous and unpredictable. There's no level they won't go to to accomplish what they're after. I never thought of the character as an evil person."

Fans got their first look at Kylo Ren in the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens that debuted last November, where we saw his unique crossguard lightsaber. Earlier this week, it was revealed that the crossguard, or quillions, are actually "raw power" that is vented from the main blade. Director J.J. Abrams confirmed in August that Kylo Ren is not a Sith lord, and is part of a group known as the Knights of Ren, which have aligned themselves with The First Order.

There have been rumors that Kylo Ren is on a mission to retrieve the original lightsaber wielded by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), which was lost when his hand was cut off by his father, Darth Vader, in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. J.J. Abrams confirmed in an earlier interview that Leia (Carrie Fisher) is in possession of this Jedi weapon, but it isn't clear how she obtained it. There is yet another rumor which ties the lovable droid BB-8 into the story.

One source claims that a character known as The Vicar, supposedly played by Max von Sydow, comes into possession of this weapon. This has the Resistance sending Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) in to investigate. In turn, he gets ahold of the weapon and puts it inside the ball droid BB-8. This could explain how Finn (John Boyega) ends up with the weapon, as we've seen in posters and previously-released footage, since he is often seen with BB-8.

The ensemble cast also includes Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke. While we wait for more details about Kylo Ren, take a look at the latest photo, where he is seen flanked by two First Order Stormtroopers. Do you think Kylo will be one of the greatest villains the series has ever seen? Or is he going to be a dud?
