If you're going to survive the harsh, blistering landscape of Jakku as a desert scavenger, you're going to need nourishment. Perhaps it's not the tastiest substance in the galaxy. But on your limited funds, it's all you can afford. Today the recipe for Rey's portion bread, as doled out by the cantankerous Crolute Unkar Plutt, has hit the Internet. So go get the ingredients, roll up your sleeves, and find the hidden Jedi resting in your stomach!

We don't often get to see the characters in Star Wars eat. But we got a first hand look at one of Rey's orphan meals in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the rising substance known as Portion bread was as interesting as it was unapitizing. And as we watched it rise right before our eyes, we wondered, 'How did they do that?' Was it a practical special effect? Or was it done through the magic of CGI?

Portion Bread is actually a real life concoction invented by the VFX team at Disney and LucasFilm. StarWars.com has finally revealed the secret behind this snack. All you need to make it come to life before your eyes is a few ingredients. About the survivalist food, StarWars.com has this to say.

"Like the blue milk Aunt Beru served in A New Hope, food is a comforting part of home life whether you're living on a moisture farm or forced to scavenge with the junk traders on Jakku. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey receives her portions and heads back home, where she adds liquid and, like magic, it instantly changes into bread. Now you can recreate this magical meal by making your own version of Rey's Portion Bread in under a minute. Pour the ingredients into a cup, add liquid and heat, and just like that - you've got a fluffy, sweet, portable bread ready to take with you to the junkfields. Happy scavenging!"

To make your own Portion Bread, you will need these ingredients: 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil. 4 tablespoons cake flour. 1-1/2 tablespoons sugar. 1/2 teaspoon matcha powder. 1/4 teaspoon baking powder. Pinch of salt.2 tablespoons whole milk. And 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.
