With Alden Ehrenreich now set to play Han Solo in the second Star Wars spin-off, Disney and LucasFilm have turned their attention to casting the female lead. A new report claims that three actress' have tested in London this week for the female lead role, Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok), Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Naomi Scott (Power Rangers). This is actually the second round of testing for the role, with the first round taking place this summer.

Variety reports that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have taken their time meeting with talent for both this role, and the long-rumored Lando Calrissian role. Reports surfaced in August that Disney and LucasFilm were casting for Lando Calrissian, while another rumor surfaced a day later that claimed Donald Glover was being eyed for the role. This report claims that the studio wanted to have another round of testing "to be certain on their decision," but it isn't known if Donald Glover is still their top choice.

As for the female lead, the character's name was not given, but there was a report from August which claimed that the studio was casting Sana Solo, who is believed to be Han Solo's first wife. That report revealed the studio had narrowed that role down to four contenders, none of whom were white. None of the contenders were revealed in that report, but it's worth noting that none of the contenders mentioned in this report are white.

The Sana Solo character was created by Jason Aaron and artist John Cassaday for the Star Wars #4 comic book, which hit store shelves in 2015. Sana is a skilled pilot who may or may not be married to Han Solo. She had to get hitched to Solo in order to pull off a smuggling job, but one of the two took their nuptials a little more seriously than the other. In the more recent comics, this created a love triangle between Leia, Sana and and Han, as Sana made her return after the events of the original trilogy.

This report claims that it still could be a few more weeks before Disney and LucasFilm make a final decision on who will play the female lead. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story has been set for release on May 25, 2018, with production scheduled to begin in early 2017. Tessa Thompson is currently shooting Thor: Ragnarok in Australia, and she most recently starred in Creed. Zoe Kravitz is coming off roles in Dope and Mad Max: Fury Road last year. Naomi Scott stars as the Pink Ranger in the highly-anticipated Power Rangers reboot.
