Star Wars: The Last Jedi is finally in theaters and everybody is talking about it and asking questions, trying to crack the code and figure out some of the mysteries that were left over from 2015's The Force Awakens. The production of The Last Jedi was shrouded in mystery and it's shocking that Rian Johnson and crew were able to keep the storyline a secret. Moviegoers were treated to the most emotional and dark Star Wars movie to date that included many plot twists that not even the most hardcore fans saw coming while making a movie that stands alone and doesn't feel like it is part 2 of a trilogy. That being said, there are still some major questions lingering that need to be addressed. Major SPOILERS ahead for The Last Jedi, so read ahead at your own risk.

Since The Last Jedi was kept tightly under wraps, many began to speculate about what kind of story that Rian Johnson was going to tell. Trailers and TV spots have been examined and taken under the microscope to look for any tiny morsel of information that would shed light on the story. Some fan theories were close, while others were flat out insane, which left many with a feeling of unease after the experience with J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens. The relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren has been a huge topic that really popped up after the last trailer that was released in October, many fans speculating that Rey would move to the Dark Side, which obviously did not happen, so that question has been answered.

We were finally treated to the reason why Luke Skywalker exiled himself for so long, which many had already figured out before the movie came out. Ben Solo had too much of the Dark Side in him and Luke thought about striking him down in the middle of the night to keep Ben from getting stronger. The incident prompted young Solo to turn and torch the Jedi, murdering young Padawans and earning the nickname of the Jedi killer. Luke feels that he failed and didn't realize the wisdom in the failure until Yoda points it out to him.

Another mystery that has finally been solved is who Rey's parents are. While we don't know exactly who they are, it was revealed that they are nobodies who ditched Rey on Jakku and never came back for her. While we know her lineage now, the answer was a little underwhelming, but fits into the context of not only who Rey is, but also sets up the potential for more Jedi after Luke Skywalker. It is also implied that Rey has known all along, but did not want to admit it to herself, which Kylo Ren points out.

Rey's parents were one of the biggest questions left after the release of The Force Awakens, so it's been a full two years of rumor and speculation. We now know about the Porgs, the crystal foxes, aka, the Vulptex, and we have met the Caretakers on Ahch-To, we saw how Luke Skywalker survives on his own, and we finally were able to see Snoke in all of his glory. However, there are still many unanswered questions and we've compiled some of the most pressing of those questions here in one spot.

9 Who is Supreme Leader Snoke?

Supreme Leader Snoke

We still don't know who Snoke is and how the First Order rose from the ashes of the Empire under his leadership, which really makes some Star Wars fans pretty angry. Snoke is shown in The Last Jedi and he is a master manipulator, a powerful Force user, and he's damaged. But that's still all we know. We don't know where he comes from or exactly what he is and now he's dead, even after Andy Serkis declared that Snoke was stronger than Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. So what gives? How did Kylo Ren kill him so easily? Maybe we'll get a book or an animated show, but for right now, we're not much further along than we were when The Force Awakens introduced the villain.

8 Did Luke become a Force Ghost?

Luke Force Ghost

It's not quite clear if Star Wars: The Last Jedi was intended to be Mark Hamill's final performance as Luke Skywalker. At the end of the movie, he evaporates much like Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope, becoming one with the force. At the time the movie was shot, Leia was supposed to command the third sequel. With the passing of Carrie Fisher, that is no longer happening. So will Luke have a substantial role to play as a Force Ghost in Star Wars 9? Or will he just show up for a cameo like Obi-Wan in Empire and Return of the Jedi? Perhaps Luke will have a role in Kylo Ren's redemption after all.

7 How did Maz Kanata come to possess Luke's Lightsaber?

Maz Kanata Luke Skywalker Lightsaber

Maybe J.J. Abrams wanted to create his own Yoda, or maybe she actually is an old friend of Han Solo's. But what we're wondering is who is Maz Kanata and how did she come into possession of the original Lightsaber? That's one pretty symbolic relic to just have lying around locked in a trunk in the bottom of your basement. Han Solo mentions that she's an old friend, but we've never heard her name before. Who is this alien who's been trusted with one of the most important weapons in the galaxy? Will we learn more about her besides her weird crush on Chewbacca and crazy union disputes?

6 How did Luke use the blue lightsaber in his battle with Kylo Ren?

Luke Blue Lightsaber

Luke Skywalker projects himself to Crait from Ahch-To, where he faces off with his nephew Kylo Ren in an epic showdown. Luke is using his blue Lightsaber, but how? After Kylo Ren and Rey fought off Snoke's Praetorian Guards, the two end up in a battle against each other, fighting for Luke's Lightsaber, which ends up getting torn in half and destroyed. So, how does Luke use it in his projection battle? Does it not matter since it technically wasn't real? Wouldn't Kylo Ren know that something was up since he destroyed said Lightsaber? One thing is for sure, Luke Skywalker is the ultimate Jedi.

5 What's the deal with the Jedi Temple on Ahch-To?

Jedi Temple Ahch-To

We know that Ahch-To is home to the first Jedi temple established and maintained by the Jedi Order. But the place is very much a mystery in The Last Jedi and doesn't really go into why the place is so sacred and special to the Jedi. Also, why did Luke have a map to the place if he did not want to be found? There are so many questions about Ahch-To. What is the black hole that was tempting Rey to the Dark Side? Are the Porgs really Force sensitive or just weird little birds? What's up with the seal at the temple, is that Snoke? It doesn't seem likely that we'll get any more answers about Ahch-To, which seems like a missed opportunity for The Last Jedi.

4 Where the heck is Lando?

Lando Last Jedi

Star Wars 9 better be saving a space for Land Calrissian. For the second new sequel in a row, the old space pirate and friend of Han Solo doesn't show up. And he's never mentioned. He is one of the few main original trilogy characters not to get his big come back. And it's kind of weird. Now that Luke and Han are dead, and Leia has sailed into a binary sunset, bringing Lando back for the next chapter in the saga makes sense. But will they find room for him? Billy Dee Williams did reprise his role as Lando for the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. So why is he absent from the movies?

3 What happened to DJ?

DJ Last Jedi

The Last Jedi introduces fans to a new character who is referred to as DJ, which stands for 'Don't Join'. He plays both sides, giving his services to whoever will pay the higher price. Before Rose and Finn make their escape from the First Order, DJ is seen wandering off with his ransom. Did he make it off the ship before it blew up? Will he be back in Star Wars 9? We have no clue. The stuttering slicer just up and disappears never to be seen again for the rest of the movie.

2 Luke's necklace and the disappearance of his green Lightsaber.

Luke's necklace

In the promotional images before the release of the movie, many people discovered that Luke Skywalker is wearing a necklace not unlike the one worn by Jyn Erso in Rogue One. Many believed it was the Kyber Crystal from his father's Sith lightsaber. As the movie approached, it was officially confirmed that Darth Vader lightsaber has been completely destroyed in Return of the Jedi, when the second Death Star was destroyed. Now, many believe that Luke's necklace contains the green Kyber crystal from Luke's lightsaber. We never see Luke use the green lightsaber in The Last Jedi and he's obviously destroyed it or left it behind. But we never get an answer for its whereabouts. And there is no indication as to what the necklace around his neck actually contains. Is that his green Kyber crystal? This sounds like something that will be answered in one of the many Star Wars books.

1 Who are the Knights of Ren?

Knights of Ren

We briefly see the rumored Knights of Ren in a vision Rey has after she finds Luke's lightsaber in The Force Awakens, but that's about as much as we ever get. Ben Solo's name changing to Kylo Ren reveals that he's the leader of the Knights and he also appears to be the only one of the group to wield a Lightsaber. In Rey's vision, it shows that Kylo and the Knights murdered all of Luke's Jedi pupils, so it's clear that they're a formidable force. Snoke tells Hux to bring Kylo to him at the end of the movie to "complete his training," making us think there's far more to come from the mysterious group. But, there isn't any mention of the Knights of Ren in The Last Jedi. There was speculation that they were the Praetorian Guards, but that obviously isn't true now. Much like Snoke, they show up, but are not explained at all.
