The next generation of Star Wars movies are intent on bringing back all of the classic characters, along with the new, to appease old and young fans alike. And even though Darth Vader met his untimely demise before becoming an Anakin Skywalker Force Ghost in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, that doesn't mean he isn't also set to return on the big screen. A new rumor claims that he will be making an appearance in the first spinoff, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. Though, don't look for him to be the primary villain.

Darth Vader will not be the main antagonist in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. Instead, he will be pulling the strings from behind the curtain. And, according to BMD, he will literally appear onscreen via a view screen or a holo projection, as seen in the previous movies. Disney and LucasFilm have not confirmed this to be true. And it isn't known if James Earl Jones will return to voice the Sith Lord. He has recently reprised the role in Star Wars Rebels, with the character having a huge presence in Season 2.

It is believed that Ben Mendelsohn is playing the main villain in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, who will presumably be working under Lord Vader as he sets out to stop a team of Rebel soldiers from stealing the plans for the Death Star, thus setting up the story seen in the very first movie Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Though, this bit of casting has never been confirmed by the actor or the studios.

Gareth Edwards will direct this first Star Wars Anthology movie, which is already set to hit theaters in 2016. It was announced earlier today that Chris Miller and Phil Lord will direct the second spinoff, the Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie, with Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan writing the screenplay. It's possible that more news about the two movies will be confirmed at this Friday's Comic Con panel for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
