Star Wars fan theories. You gotta love them. Especially since a lot of them make perfect sense. But when it comes to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, some of the more prominent theories swirling around the Internet are proving to be false. Especially when it comes to one big fan theory in regards to Disney XD's current animates series Star Wars Rebels.

Actor Alistair Petrie was featured in the very first Rogue One teaser as a stern Rebel leader. He is seen reading off a list of offenses as committed by new hero Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones. Many fans wondered: Who is this guy? And soon, those same fans began to concoct their own ideas about who this Rebel leader is, and where he comes from.

Alistair Petrie is seen in a scene with the iconic Rebel ruler Mon Mothma, who appears in her white caftan that we've all come to know and love. She is now played by Genevieve O'Reilly, taking over the role from Caroline Blakistan, who originated the role in 1983's Return of the Jedi. Since that character has connections to the overall Star Wars universe at play here, surely Alistair Petrie's character does too, right?

And so began the fan theory that this unknown Rebel leader must have been seen or mentioned somewhere else along the way. And that lead many to believe Petrie's character was an Imperial defector who had, as Entertainment Weekly puts it, 'grown disillusioned with the dictatorship and ultimately joined the uprising against it.'

So, of course Alistair Petrie must be playing the fan-favorite Imperial character Agent Kallus from Star Wars Rebels, right? The actor does physically resemble the character, who is a deadly insurgent-hunter. Did Kallus switch sides and join the Rebels? Is this an older version of him? Well, director Gareth Edwards has shot this fan theory down. He says no, Petrie is not Agent Kallus. He's just simply a member of the Rebel Alliance. One we haven't seen before. But at least now we know his name. Meet General Draven. The director was actually quite surprised that more people didn't know the character's real name already.

"It's no official secret. Sometimes I read stuff online like it's this big thing that's been leaked, and I thought, 'Oh, I thought people knew that.'"

So there is no Agent Kallus in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We're simply getting a new character named General Draven who hasn't been mentioned before in the official cinematic Star Wars canon, or else where. Forest Whitaker is playing Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars. So, there is a TV show connection after all. But not the one many fans expected.
