For some Star Wars fans, the reveal of new toys and action figures can be even more exciting than the movie itself. And this September, we're going to see a flood of incoming merchandise tied to the first-ever Star Wars spin-off. Never-before-seen characters will be getting immortalized in plastic, along with new versions of returning favorites. Over the past two weeks, we've gotten to see quite a lot of what will be available at the end of this month, when the second annual Force Friday launches on September 30 in anticipation of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Today, we get yet another round of cool upcoming toy releases.
First up is a sneak peek at some of the new 2-packs Hasbro is offering in its line-up of 3.75 action figures. We also get a look at some more of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Black Series 6" figures, which will be arriving as part of Wave 2. And there are old and new characters alike who will be vying for your disposable income this fall.
The first new 2-pack features Rebel soldier Baze Malbus, who is played by worldwide acting icon Wen Jiang in the movie. He comes decked out in his well-worn Rebel flight suit and armor, and he comes packed with an Imperial Stormtrooper. The Stormtrooper seen here is the classic variation that first appeared in A New hope, way back in 1977. Both Figures come with unique new weapons. The second 2-pack features characters from Star Wars Rebels. We get a shirtless Darth Maul as he appears on the animated series. He comes packaged with the Seventh Sister Inquisitor.
Moving onto the fan-favorite 6" Black Series, Wave 2 will consist of the new villain Director Krennic, who is played by Ben Mendelsohn in Rogue One. He comes draped in what is sure to become an iconic white cape along with his signature blaster. Also arriving as part of this set is the Scarif Trooper Squad Leader. This particular Stormtrooper must not have been too effective, as he was never seen again in the original trilogy or The Force Awakens. And speaking of The Force Awakens, this Wave of toys includes a new C-3PO figure seen here with his red-arm. This is called the Resistance Base C-3PO, and we're sure he'll have a similar appearance in Star Wars 8.
Not pictured here, but included in the Black Series Wave 2 will be a repack of Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and the Deathtrooper. Both the 2-packs and the Black Series figures pictured here won't be available during Force Friday this September. Instead, these figures won't be arriving until November. But some speculate that Hasbro may actually surprise fans by releasing a limited number of these same toys on September 30th. Toys R Us has announced today that Force Friday will begin with a Midnight Madness rush 1 minute after Midnight on that previous Thursday. So if you have your eye on anything included here (courtesy of Yakface), you'll want to get in line early. As this stuff will disappear from store shelves quickly.
