This weekend, during NBC's Olympic coverage, the network debuted a brief teaser for Disney's highly-anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which revealed that the full trailer will debut Thursday, August 11 during the Olympics. While we still have two days to wait until this trailer arrives, Disney is giving fans another sneak peek with a 15-second "story teaser" that gives us a new look at some of the main characters. While we don't see much, this video gives us new glimpses at Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang) and Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), along with the new U-Wing ship and new droid K-2SO, played by Alan Tudyk.

We learned yesterday that one of the new planets in Rogue One is a Jedi holy land dubbed Jedha. Director Gareth Edwards explained that this planet is where people who believe in The Force go on pilgrimage. The planet is said to be inspired by Middle Eastern locations, with "Ottoman-inspired architecture" similar to places like Mecca, Jerusalem, Canterbury or Bodh Gaya. Before this Rogue One story begins, Jedha is a spiritual place very important to the Jedi order, until the Empire takes control of the people and the land.

Gareth Edwards teased there is something very important to both the Jedi and the Rebels at Jedha, which some have already speculated is a source of kyber crystals, the minerals used to construct lightsabers. It is also believed that kyber crystals are the power source for the Death Star's main weapon, with a report from June claiming that the Death Squad's Death Troopers are mining for these crystals to be synthesized and used on the Death Star. Naturally, that hasn't been confirmed, but hopefully we'll find out more about these kyber crystals soon.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a prequel movie that takes place in the time between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and tells the story of how the Rebels got their hands on the plans for the Empire's planet destroying weapon, the Death Star. The band of Rebels tasked with stealing the plans is being led by Jyn Erso, who has been described as a "Joan of Arc" character by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. She is accompanied by a mixed bag of rag-tag Rebels who are trying to secure these plans so that the Rebel Alliance can destroy the Empire's new space station.

This first Star Wars spinoff movie introduces a slew of new characters who are being played by some top notch talent. The cast includes Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang and Forest Whitaker, who is playing Saw Gerrera from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The movie is directed by Godzilla filmmaker Gareth Edwards. The script was written by Chris Weitz, with the story by Gary Whitta and John Knoll. Check out this brief story teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, hitting theaters December 16, before the full trailer debuts in just two short days.
