During last year's Comic-Con, many fans were expecting a new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to debut during Disney's Hall H panel. Instead, fans were treated to an extended behind-the-scenes sizzle reel, which offered a glimpse at these iconic sets and confirmed that Simon Pegg did in fact have a role in the movie, which had long been rumored. Over the weekend, the Star Wars universe converged on London for Star Wars Celebration Europe, where, we saw that LucasFilm opted for a similar behind-the-scenes reel for their upcoming spinoff Rogue One.

The Star Wars Celebration video, courtesy of YouTube takes us behind-the-scenes with the cast and director Gareth Edwards, who reveals how important this franchise is to him. He compares working on Rogue One to a "fantasy you always have as a kid," with every shot filled with "amazing characters." It's also clear from this footage, and the poster that was also unveiled at Celebration, that a bulk of this story takes place on a tropical planet, filled with Shoretroopers.

The cast and crew members we hear from in this video, including Warwick Davis, who has an unspecified role in this adventure, all seem to be in awe of this entire universe. Director Gareth Edwards revealed that the original Star Wars is his favorite movie, and while he tries to respect the legendary stories told throughout the franchise's history, he also wants to bring something new to the table.

While the bulk of this video is behind-the-scenes shots, we do get some interesting footage of Jyn Erso running on a beach alongside Diego Luna's Captain Cassian Andor. While Jyn is seen holding a blaster in one hand, she's seen holding a mysterious object in her other hand, which some have already speculated could be the Empire's plans for the Death Star. Of course, this task, to steal the Death Star plans, lies at the heart of this movie, which is set between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and the one that started it all, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

Gareth Edwards directs Rogue One: A Star Wars Story from a script by Chris Weitz and Gary Whitta, based on a story by John Knoll. This movie will be the first of three planned spinoffs, followed by a currently untitled Han Solo spinoff, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, which is set for release on May 25, 2018. The third spinoff has been rumored to center on the iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett, reportedly being eyed for a 2020 release, but that hasn't been confirmed quite yet. Take a look at the sizzle reel for Rogue One, along with new photos below, to get you ready for this Star Wars spinoff.
