Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Crutcher's best-selling teen novel "Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes" is getting a motion picture makeover. Film rights to the book have been picked up by the producing triad of Joan Singleton, Tina Ritt and Ralph Singleton. Tina Ritt, daughter of helmer Martin Ritt, will direct the feature, which is being adapted by Joan Singleton.

Tina Ritt is directing and producing a documentary on her father, "The Style of Integrity."

Published by Laurel Leaf Books and Greenwillow Books, "Fat" follows two unattractive kids -- Eric and Sarah -- who team up against the world. When Eric fears that he may lose his friendship with Sarah, he elects to "stay fat for Sarah Byrnes."
