Seminal horror author Stephen King has pitched his own idea for what could come next for the Predator following the release of Prey. Taking to social media, King’s idea for the iconic movie monster is to pit him against another iconic movie monster of his own creation; The Children of the Corn.

While the Predator has only faced either humans or the Alien Xenomorph on screen, the character has a very different combat history on the page. Comics have seen the creature face-off against the likes of Batman, Superman, Tarzan, Judge Dredd, and more. So why not the Children of the Corn? A creation of Stephen King back in 1977, the children in question are a murderous cult who worship a demon. While they may just be kids, the Children of the Corn would likely relish the opportunity to cause the Predator all manner of issues after the unsuspecting alien lands in the wrong cornfield...

Fans have responded positively to the idea, which was no doubt offered by King in jest. It has since sparked conversation of who else horror fans would like to see the Predator face-off with. "I'd watch it, but I'd really be waiting for Carrie Vs Predator," said one user, with another writing, "Honestly the Predator staying the night in the house in The Shining would be amazing."

Recent Predator prequel, Prey, has been met with rave reviews from both audiences and critics alike. Reigniting the long-running franchise, the quality and success of Prey has had fans wondering what might come next for the alien trophy hunter, with the most popular idea being to drop the movie monster into feudal Japan and see it do battle with a samurai. Now that Stephen King has made a much more wild suggestion, perhaps fans will start thinking even more outside the box, wondering which other iconic horror character they would pit the Predator against.

Fans are not the only ones thinking about further adventures for the Predator, with Prey director Dan Trachtenberg revealing recently that he has given some thought to a direct sequel. “The nerd in me looked that far ahead, as far as he could look, before we started writing this movie, but the adult in me said, ‘Don’t count your chickens and just be careful. Try and make the best movie possible, straight away,’” the filmmaker explained. “End-credit sequence aside, there is something refreshing about seeing a movie that is not really intended to be just a part one to something else. There’s something nice about seeing a complete thought. On the complete other hand, I love that what would’ve been a post-credit scene in other movies, is an animated end-title sequence in our movie. Our end titles are still storytelling.”

Prey transports audiences to the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, and tells the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Written by Patrick Aison, and starring Amber Midthunder as Naru, the young Comanche warrior who must fight to protect her tribe against a Predator, Prey is now available to stream on Hulu. Stephen King fans meanwhile have plenty to look forward from the beloved writer.
