True Blood's Stephen Moyer has boarded two projects: the Hyde Park thriller The Double, starring opposite Richard Gere and Topher Grace, and a starring role in The Big Valley, starring opposite Jessica Lange, according to Heat Vision.

In The Double, writer Michael Brandt makes his directorial debut on the project which stars Moyer as a Russian spy in a story that centers on a retired CIA operative (Gere) forced to partner with a young FBI agent (Grace) to hunt down the killer of a senator in Washington.

Brandt wrote the script with partner Derek Haas. Production begins June 21 in Detroit.

In The Big Valley, Moyer will star in a big-screen take on the 1960s ABC series that starred Barbara Stanwyck. Lange will portray Stanwyck's role of matriarch of the Barkleys, a family of ranchers in 19th century California.

Moyer will play Jarrod Barkley, the family's respected attorney who represents ranchers fighting to keep their land from being taken by railroad companies.

Daniel Adams wrote the screenplay and is directing.

Production will take place in Louisiana.
