Following his more dramatic and award-worthy turn in Foxcatcher, comedic actor Steve Carell will continue to play it straight in an untitled Paranoia thriller for Pirates of The Caribbean and The Lone Ranger director Gore Verbinski.

No story details have been released for the project as of yet.

New Regency will begin production on the Untitled Paranoid Thriller in March, with the movie serving as the first project in the multiyear deal between the studio and Blind Wink. The screenplay comes from Steve Conrad, known for his work on The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and The Pursuit of Happyness.

Gore Verbinski will follow the Untitled Paranoid Thriller by directing two more back-to-back movies for New Regency, which include the horror thriller A Cure For Wellness from writer Justin Haythe, and the large scale action adventure Passengers, which was also written by Steve Conrad.

New Regency, which was relaunched by Arnon Milchan and Brad Weston, is targeting projects that appeal to the 'auteur filmmaker'. It a strategy that paid off with last year's Best Picture winning drama 12 Years a Slave. This year's Oscar race looks promising for the studio as well, with their releases Gone Girl and Birdman early favorites in the awards race. New Regency is currently in production on The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. It will be released December 2015.

Steve Carell will next be seen in the Disney family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, which opens this Friday.
