Disney is set to return to the roots of its Swiss Family Robinson series with Brooklyn Family Robinson (though not a traditional reboot), which will star Steve Carell. The movie is described as a family adventure with heart.

Steve Carell is producing this new comedy with his partners at Carousel Productions in conjunction with Madeville Films.

Brooklyn Family Robinson will be penned by David Reynolds, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for co-writing Pixar's animated adventure Finding Nemo. The project is based on an original idea by David Reynolds, with Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres, two of the producers on the movie.

The plot will follow an urban dwelling father who decides to uproot his family from the city and move them to a tiny island. All other story details are being kept under wraps.

Brooklyn Family Robinson reteams Steve Carell with Disney after having just completed Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, which comes out this October.
