Just a few days after actress Kate Winslet signed on for the female lead in Universal's Steve Jobs biopic, Inherent Vice breakout star Katherine Waterston has been offered another lead role. If she signs on, the actress will play Chrisann, the high school girlfriend and first wife of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who will be portrayed by Michael Fassbender. It isn't quite clear if the actress has entered negotiations quite yet, or if she has just been offered the role.

Seth Rogen co-stars as the other Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, with Michael Stuhlbarg playing Andy Hertzfeld, a computer scientist/inventor who helped develop the Macintosh Operating System with the original Apple team. Herzfeld worked with Steve Jobs until he left for Google in 2005. It isn't clear how many more key roles are needed to be filled, but screenwriter Aaron Sorkin revealed last month that Steve Jobs' daughter Lisa will be the "heroine" of the film.

Danny Boyle is directing from a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin, with the story taking place backstage before three revolutionary Apple product launches, the Mac computer, Apple Next and the first iPod. Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon, Guymon Casady and Christian Colson are producing, with shooting scheduled to begin sometime next year. Katherine Waterston has been receiving rave reviews for her performance as Shasta Fay Hepworth in Inherent Vice. Her other recent credits include Almost In Love and Night Moves.
