Steven Seagal is reportedly in talks for a role in The Expendables 3. Back in April 2012, the actor revealed that Sylvester Stallone had offered him a role in the sequel, although we hadn't heard anything further about his involvement until now.

The news comes just a month after an unconfirmed report that Mel Gibson is playing the villain. According to several Bulgarian news outlets, both Steven Seagal and Mel Gibson will have a fight scene alongside Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren. The screenplay has reportedly been rewritten several times to accommodate a growing cast that also includes Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovovich and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) is directing from a screenplay by Richard Wenk. Production is scheduled to begin later this summer.

If Steven Seagal does sign on for The Expendables 3, it will mark his first major studio production since 2010's Machete.
