It seems almost impossible to think about music in cinema without John Williams' name coming to mind. A few days after confirming that, despite the rumors, he’s not retiring, we have some excellent news. Steven Spielberg is ready to tell the story behind the icon with a documentary he’ll be producing.

Williams and Spielberg have been working together for a long time, with the composer being behind the music of classics such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Jurassic Park, and Schindler's List or, most recently, The Fabelmans. Once again, the two will get together but for a very different project, a documentary to tell Williams' story and cover his incredible career, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Laurent Bouzerea, perhaps most well-known for his behind-the-scenes featurettes on most of Spielberg's films, is set to direct. Steven will serve as an executive producer for the project, along with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Justin Wilkes, Sara Bernstein, and Meredith Kaulfers.

Later this year, Williams will bring music to the big screen once again in one of Spielberg’s franchises, Indiana Jones.

What We Know About Indiana Jones 5

Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in The Dial of Destiny
Lucasfilm

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to arrive in cinemas on June 30, 2023, with Harrison Ford returning once again as the beloved titular character and James Mangold taking Spielberg’s place as a director.

Joining Ford will be John Rhys-Davies returning as Sallah for the first time since Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is playing Indy's goddaughter Helena who, according to the star, is a "mystery and a wonder," with her performance inspired by Barbara Stanwyck's role in the 1941 comedy The Lady Eve.

But the most exciting addition will be Mads Mikkelsen, who’s set to play the story's central villain, Voller, who was loosely inspired by real-life Nazi-turned-NASA-engineer Wernher von Braun. Boyd Holbrook is also part of the cast, playing the bad guy’s right hand, Klaber.

The movie has been inspired by real-life history, which saw former members of the Third Reich work as part of the US government in the 1960s. Voller's inspiration Wernher von Braun was a pioneer of space technology in the US after World War II. So, we’ll get to see Indy take on the Nazis once again.

Another interesting fact is that Harrison Ford will also be de-aged for the film's opening sequence, which takes place in 1944, right after the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark, connecting both movies.
