Last week we /ice-cubes-son-to-play-rapper-in-n-w-a-biopic-straight-outta-compton/reported that O'Shea Jackson Jr. would be playing his father, Ice Cube, in the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Today, Billboard has word that Marcus Callendar will be portraying Dr. Dre and Jason Mitchell is taking on the role of the late Eazy-E.

Marcus Callendar is best known for being an alumni of New York's Shakespeare Lab at the Public Theater and has had roles in multiple television shows including HBO's Criminal Justice, Blue Bloods and Elementary. Jason Mitchell has had small parts in Mark Wahlberg's Contraband and Broken City. Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy E's widow Tomica Wright have all approved of the casting.

F. Gary Gray will be directing this biographical film from a script by Jonathan Herman. Production is expected to start in a few months with a possible 2015 release, which will coincide with their 25th anniversary of their first album Straight Outta Compton.
