Over the past few days, several movie studios and other advertisers have been debuting their Super Bowl commercials early, but there are some that are actually making you wait until the game to watch these ads. One such advertiser is Netflix, whichrevealed that it will debut a trailer for Stranger Things Season 2 during the big game. While we'll have to wait until Sunday to see the actual preview, the first photo has surfaced from this TV spot, which offers an interesting 1980s movie connection.

Entertainment Weekly debuted the photo, which shows three of the young characters, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) all dressed up as Ghostbusters. It has previously been confirmed that this season will take place in 1984, one year after the events of the first season, and the year that Ghostbusters was released in theaters. Judging from the pumpkin cutouts hanging in the school window, it seems that this trio of youngsters decided to go as the Ghostbusters during Halloween. The site also spoke with producer Shawn Levy, who offered a tantalizing tease about the story for Stranger Things Season 2.

"The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn't."

Ever since its debut last July Stranger Things has become a pop culture phenomenon, with the young stars even appearing as part of the opening musical number at the Golden Globes last month. The Stranger Things segment even teased that Barb (Shannon Purser) is still alive, even though Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, confirmed that Barb is still dead. Netflix hasn't issued a Season 2 premiere date yet, with production still under way, but it will likely debut sometime this summer, similar to the July 15 premiere of the first season last year.

Stranger Things Season 2 will bring back the rest of the young cast, including Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler) and Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers). We also reported last month that M. Night Shyamalan wants to direct an episode of Stranger Things Season 2. The filmmaker actually worked with series creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer before, serving as writers and producers on M. Night Shyamalan's hit Fox series Wayward Pines. It hasn't been confirmed if M. Night Shyamalan will in fact direct an episode of the hit Netflix series.

Along with the returning adult stars such as Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers and David Harbour as Sheriff Jim Hopper, there will a number of new cast members coming by this season. Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery are playing step-siblings Max and Billy, Sean Astin is playing the manager of the local Hawkins Radio Shack, while Paul Reiser will play a government official who comes to town to investigate what happened during the first season. Linnea Berthelsen is playing Roman, a damaged young woman who doesn't actually live in Hawkins, but is connected to the mysterious events of Stranger Things Season 1. Brett Gelman has also come aboard to play a former journalist turned conspiracy theorist who comes to Hawkins while investigating a cold case. Take a look at this new image from Stranger Things Season 2, and check back on Sunday for the Super Bowl commercial.
