Over the past few weeks, we've been getting a lot more information about Stranger Things Season 2, which has been confirmed to debut on Halloween this year. We have also learned that the Season 2 premiere actually taking place on Halloween in 1984 in the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana, while getting a look at the first photos. There are still plenty of mysteries left to be solved between now and Halloween, and it seems one of them may be solved, with the potential return of Matthew Modine's Dr. Brenner.

When the Netflix streaming service announced that Stranger Things would be renewed for Sesaon 2 in August, it was also confirmed that most of the cast was returning, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and almost all of the young stars. There were two notable exclusions though, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, and Matthew Modine as Dr. Brenner. While Eleven's return was later confirmed, we never got any sort of confirmation regarding Dr. Brenner, but that may have changed today with Matthew Modine debuting a new Stranger Things poster on Instagram, along with the following message.

"#strangerthings season two #upsidedown @milliebobbybrown ...more to be revealed, uncovered."

Matthew Modine also responded to an Italian publication's tweet, speculating that he will return to Stranger Things this season. His response was simply the Italian phrase, "Non lo so," which translates to "I don't know" in English. It's also worth noting that series creators the Duffer Brothers have stated that there is a possibility of seeing him again. Matt Duffer stated in an interview from August that if he were an audience member watching, and he saw the monster jump on him and then cut away, that would have been an "unsatisfying death," in his eyes. Naturally, he wouldn't offer any details about how Dr. Brenner will in fact return, but there's a possibility he could be connected to one of this season's new characters.

We also recently learned that Dr. Hawkins' lab will be taken over by a new character named Dr. Owens, played by Paul Reiser, who was described as a high-ranking member of the Department of Energy, who was sent to Hawkins on a "clean-up" assignment, following the events of the first season. Dr. Owens is described as "seemingly friendly," although there have been rumors that he could be one of the villains this season. It isn't clear quite yet if there will be any connection between Dr. Owens and Dr. Brenner, but the Duffer Brothers did confirm that the Demogorgon was destroyed, but the Upside Down still does remain open, and there is still a connection to this mysterious place within the Hawkins lab.

Last week, another new photo was released that offered our first look at one of the other new cast members, Sadie Sink, who plays the tomboy Max, and whose arrival creates a bit of a love triangle, with both Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) vying for her romantic attention this season. Her step-brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery), on the other hand, will serve as the show's 'human villain'. Billy is described as edgy and overly confident, whose hobbies include stealing girlfriends away from their longtime boyfriends, drinking games and driving his black Camaro. He is described as having a 'violent and unpredictable nature.' Take a look at the new poster and tweets from Matthew Modine below, as we wait for more on Stranger Things Season 2.
