Some advertisers and studios were kind enough to release their Super Bowl ads online a bit early this year, but not Netflix. They know that fans are dying for their first look at Stranger Things season 2 and they were perfectly happy to make everyone wait until the big day for the video to make its way online. Fortunately for fans, that day is here and Netflix has finally released the first teaser for Stranger Things season 2 for the world to see.

Prior to the release of this first teaser, Netflix had been pretty skimpy with the promotional materials for the new season of Stranger Things. The series was easily one of the biggest new shows of 2016 and Netflix knew they had a monster of a hit on their hands, so they immediately started moving ahead with Stranger Things season 2. Now, we finally have our first video that gives us a look at the upcoming season of the binge-worthy, sci-fi series. If the anticipation for new episodes of Stranger Things was high before, it is at a full-on fever pitch now.

Netflix was kind enough to give fans a little taste of what to expect in Stranger Things Season 2 prior to releasing this first teaser. A couple of days ago, the streaming service debuted the first photo from the new season via Entertainment Weekly, which features the cast all dressed up as the Ghostbusters for Halloween, and this trailer confirms the new season will debut on Halloween. Since this season of Stranger Things takes place in 1984, that seems very fitting and only helped to stir up excitement among fans online. Producer Shawn Levy couldn't say much about the new season, but he did offer a very cryptic tease about what's to come. Here is what he had to say.

"The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn't."

Stranger Things Season 2 will bring back the rest of the young cast, including Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler) and Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers). Sadly, everyone's favorite, sensible best friend Barb (Shannon Purser) will not be returning, since it has been confirmed multiple times that she is most definitely dead. Though, it has been said that her presence, or more accurately lack of presence, will be felt in the new episodes of Stranger Things.

Outside of the younger cast members, Winona Ryder will also be back as Joyce Byers and David Harbour will also be returning as Sheriff Hopper. Series creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer also added some very promising new talent in the form of Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery, who are playing step-siblings named Max and Billy. The Goonies star Sean Astin is playing the manager of the local Radio Shack who is also Joyce's new boyfriend, with Aliens star Paul Reiser playing a government official who comes to town to investigate what happened during the first season. Additionally, Linnea Berthelsen is playing Roman, a damaged young woman who is connected to the mysterious events of Stranger Things season 1. Be sure to check out the first teaser for Stranger Things season 2 for yourself below and be on the lookout for new episodes on Netflix later this year.
