It has been two years since we saw Netflix hit series, Stranger Things, release new episodes. Despite the fourth season not being expected until next year, the fans have not stopped speculating about a potential fifth season of the nostalgia horror series. With David Harbour recently having been on the promotion trail for Black Widow, he was asked about the upcoming season of Stranger Things and what could be coming after that. Speaking to SyFy, Marvel's Red Guardian was happy to give a tease about the future of Hawkins' traumatized residents, including his own character of Jim Hopper.

"I think on my Netflix talking points list, I'm not supposed to say that there is a fifth season," the actor, David Harbour, said. "If you were on set with someone doing a show that possibly might have a fifth season, I'm sure that those people, if you were close to them, as I am with the Duffer Brothers, would probably bring up things that might move forward into that next season. I mean, you know, from the very start of this show, I've talked to them about the arc of this guy [Chief Hopper] and sort of what would be, and they've talked to me about him, and what would be really profound and moving."

If you read between the lines, as long as Netflix is happy to give another season the green light, then I think it is pretty likely that the upcoming season will not be the last we see of Hopper. With so many franchises branching out in other directions, as long as the series continues to draw attention, then we could also be seeing some spin off shows coming in the future as well.

Recently when speaking to Collider, Harbour revealed that the new season, season 4, is his favorite. "[Season 4] is really my favorite season. I just love it. The scripts always get better and these guys, they started out, and Season One is so tight and good and intimate in a certain way, it's so good. And these guys go in different directions, of which the fans have multiple takes on, but I will say, the writing continues to be of its particular, specific genre, whatever they're doing each season is just extraordinary. And this, again, we top it. Like I feel it's a big, beautiful season. I can't wait for people to see it."

While there is no release date yet for the new season of the show to premiere on Netflix, and no word on whether the entire season will drop in one go or be released weekly like many other big titles on other streaming platforms, we do know that there will be a big mix of returning characters as well as some new blood to the franchise, which includes horror icon Robert Englund. Other newcomers include Amybeth McNulty, Myles Truitt, Regina Ting Chen and Grace Van Dien, who will be joining the likes of Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp and Matthew Modine.
