Be warned, SPOILERS for Stranger Things Season 4 to follow.

The Duffer Brothers have revealed more details regarding the direction of Stranger Things Season 5, including the idea that the final outing for the Netflix show will answer questions about The Upside Down. Speaking with Collider, the siblings behind Stranger Things once again confirmed the setting for season 5, before stating that there will be plenty of reveals and questions answered regarding the mysterious dimension known as The Upside Down.

"It's mostly in Hawkins, and there's a lot obviously in the Upside Down ... We do a couple more big reveals in Volume 2, but it's all related to Vecna, Henry, and his journey. But what we haven't really discussed is exactly what the Upside Down is ... The big reveals that are coming in Season 5 are really about the Upside Down itself, which we only start to hint at. There is that moment where we realize in episode seven this year that it's frozen in time."

Stranger Things Season 4 has now revealed several intriguing things about The Upside Down, including that Vecna AKA Henry Creel AKA One has been behind the horrors and torment since the very beginning. It was Vecna who created the Mind-Flayer after being exiled to The Upside Down by a hugely powerful Eleven. Showing Vecna’s first few days in The Upside Down, which notably looks like a post-apocalyptic desert rather than a decaying version of Hawkins, there are still several talking points remaining about this alternate world.

But while these questions now have answers, there are still plenty of mysterious surrounding the origins of The Upside Down and why it is stuck in November 6th 1983. Ross Duffer continued, posing several questions that Stranger Things Season 5 will attempt to provide answers for.

"What was that where Henry was when he was found? The Mind Flayer, where is that?"

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will aspire to complete several arcs for many of the beloved characters from the large ensemble cast. Matt Duffer has since revealed that Stranger Things Season 5 will center on Will Byers, finally giving the character something important to do. "Will's going to be a big part and focus, is really all I can say of Season 5, in his journey,” he said. “We're starting to see his coming of age, really. Which has been challenging for a number of reasons, some of which are supernatural. But you're starting to see him come into his own."

The Duffer Brothers continued adding, “I think you'll see that with a couple of the character arcs, not just with Will. But also with Steve and Nancy, and her relationship with Jonathan where things are not fully resolved. The characters have maybe made steps, like in the case of Will, but that journey isn't over yet. All of that is going to play a huge role as we try to wrap this thing up next season."

Starring a large ensemble cast that includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Matthew Modine and Paul Reiser, Stranger Things Season 4 is now available on Netflix in its entirety.
