The Emmy Award-winning HBO series Succession returns, with this latest trailer teasing the upcoming fourth and final outing for the Roy family. Released courtesy of the official HBO Max YouTube Channel, Succession Season 4 hinting at far more familiar drama and cutthroat business dealings before we’re through. Check out the new trailer for Succession Season 4 below.

As Succession Season 4 begins, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is complete. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.

Created by Jesse Armstong and first airing back in 2018, Succession centers on the Roy family, the all-powerful owners of the global media and entertainment conglomerate, Waystar RoyCo. A fight for control begins when the health of current family patriarch, Logan Roy, grows increasingly uncertain.

Starring a large ensemble cast that includes Hiam Abbass as Marcia Roy, Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy, Natalie Gold as Rava Roy, Alan Ruck as Connor Roy, Sarah Snook as Siobhan "Shiv" Roy, Jeremy Strong as Kendall Roy, Nicholas Braun as Greg Hirsch, Peter Friedman as Frank Vernon, Matthew Macfadyen as Tom Wambsgans, and Brian Cox as Logan Roy, as well as Rob Yang, Dagmara Domińczyk, Arian Moayed, J. Smith-Cameron, Justine Lupe, David Rasche, and Fisher Stevens, Succession has been a huge critical success since the beginning.

Critics have heaped praise on every element of Succession, for the performances to the writing to score, with the HBO series being showered with awards over the last few years. Succession has so far seen victory at the British Academy Television Awards, the Golden Globes, and the Emmy Awards, with both Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong receiving the Golden Globe for Best Actor.

It has now been officially confirmed that Succession Season 4 will be the show’s last. "It’s been a bit tortured, and I felt unexpectedly nervous about talking to you, because it’s all theoretical until this point, and I have tried to keep it theoretical for a whole number of reasons,” creator Jesse Armstrong explained recently regarding the decision to end Succession. “Who knows about the psychological reasons, but the creative ones were that it felt really useful to not make the final, final decision for ages. You know, there’s a promise in the title of Succession. I’ve never thought this could go on forever.”

Armstrong continued saying, "I feel sad, and I have the-circus-has-left-town feeling that everyone gets who works on a production that’s good, and this one particularly so. I imagine I’ll be a little bit lonely, and wandering the streets of London in a funk, and wondering, What the f*** did I do? I’ll probably be calling you up in about six months asking if people are ready for a reboot.”

The fourth and final season of Succession is scheduled to premiere on March 26, 2023 on HBO Max. No doubt many will be sad to the show come to an end.
