Even though Suicide Squad is currently doing very well for Warner Bros. at the box office, the DC Extended Universe is still facing some problems. Much like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad was trashed by critics, and that is problematic. To add to the pile of potential issues, Jared Leto, who plays The Joker in the movie, is now voicing some serious distaste for his experience and appears to be very unhappy with Warner Bros.

Aside from his acting career, Leto is also the frontman for the band 30 Seconds to Mars. Over the weekend, a meet-up for fans of the band called "Camp Mars" was held, and Leto showed up to have a Q&A session with his most adoring followers. Unfortunately, no direct quotes are available, but Batman-News stumbled upon a Tumblr post that summarized what Leto had to say about Suicide Squad, and he is apparently quite disappointed. Here is what the report said.

"He was very honest about the film this weekend; his disappointment in what he's learned of the theatrical cut (he's still not seen the film); feeling sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently; thinking it would've been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices..."

Even though director David Ayer has said that the version of Suicide Squad that was released is the cut he wanted to put out, there have been many reports of different cuts of the movie. One that was more dark and gritty, and another that was more light in tone. There were also extensive reshoots that were done fairly close to the release of the movie, and that all contributed to what many feel is a troubled final cut. It also came to light that many of Leto's scenes as The Joker ended up on the cutting room floor, and he is understandably not thrilled about that.

In Suicide Squad, The Joker only has something like seven minutes of screen time, but was used heavily in the marketing materials and Leto clearly spent an awful lot of time preparing and filming for such a small amount of time. It is very likely that he signed a multi-picture deal. While we don't know for sure, he did reportedly reveal that his contract had stipulations saying that he couldn't' participate in dangerous activities. Given that Leto loves to go rock climbing, he didn't take to that very kindly. A fan posted a video clip of the actor responding to this bit of his contract, in which he simply says "f*ck em!"

Warner Bros. no doubt has bigger plans for The Joker in upcoming DCEU movies, but Leto clearly isn't happy and with him disregarding a major stipulation in his contract, he doesn't seem to care if the studio knows about it. With a Ben Affleck directed Batman movie on the way, it seems likely that Leto's Joker is primed to return, but after feeling "tricked" and lied to, it is very possible he simply won't want to. After all of the negative press surrounding Warner Bros. last two DC Comics movies, the last thing they need is one of their biggest actors leaving. Not that Leto is going to, but at the very least, he is publicly voicing some serious distaste. Either way, it isn't good.
