Though Suicide Squad is not necessarily tied directly into Justice League, we know that it is part of DC and Warner Bros.' expansive cinematic universe. So, many believe that this third film in their planned series will somehow connect to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While it has been widely rumored that both Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor will make appearances at some point, Latino Review is back with yet another rumor that claims the movie will also tease a connection to Aquaman. It seems that Amanda Waller, who brings this group of super villains together for an impossible mission, has had her own run in with the legendary Atlantis superhero.

In a recent interview, Viola Davis called her Amanda Waller a brutal badass. That may be true if this latest tidbit proves to be accurate. According to El Mayimbe, Waller is keeping something in her personal trophy case that is very near and dear to Arthur Curry's heart. He reveals:

RT! #suicidesquad #skwad HUGE #RUMOR #SPOILER #WARNING Sources tell me in the lower levels of the prison where #AMANDAWALLER keeps all the SUPER POWERED META HUMANS, she has inside a trophy case - #AQUAMAN's TRIDENT as seen in the recently released still with #JasonMomoa! How did she come into the trident's possession? What happened to Aquaman in #BatmanvSupermanDawnofJustice? The plot certainly thickens! Very cool nonetheless. Love me a good mystery. #trident #DC #dccu #dccomics #dc movie #SCOOP #SUPERPOWEREDMETAHUMANS #BatmanvsSuperman"

if this is indeed true, it sounds like nothing more than a fun easter egg set up by director David Ayer. It doesn't sound like it will have an immediate affect on the story being told in Suicide Squad, which follows a group of deadly assassins trying to clear their name by embarking on a deadly government sanctioned mission. But it certainly sets up some implications about Amanda Waller and her search for 'metahumans'. And it could impact future storytelling. How did the Trident get there? And how will Aquaman get it back. Did Jason Momoa's Aquaman lose the Trident in a battle seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? We'll all have to wait until 2016 to find out!
