With production currently under way on Suicide Squad, the superhero ensemble has just added yet another cast member in Alex Meraz. No details were given about what character he will portray at this time, or whether his role originates in the DC Comics the superhero tale is based on. Warner Bros. has already issued an August 5, 2016 release date for Suicide Squad, which comes just five months after the long-awaited Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The cast is lead by Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc). Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Common and Ray Olubowale also star, but their exact roles have not been confirmed at this time. Ben Affleck was also spotted on the set earlier today, with the actor rumored to be reprising his Batman role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

David Ayer is directing from his own screenplay, based on the comic book characters created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru in 1959. Alex Meraz is best known for playing Paul Lahote in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. His other credits include The New World, Mine Games and The Bronx Bull.
