Way back in June, when Suicide Squad was only midway through shooting, it was widely reported that Jared Leto, a method actor who likes to stay in character, had sent some of his costars creepy gifts. Now, the clown prince of crime is back up to his old tricks. The latest recipient is Jay Hernandez, who doesn't seem to bothered by the madman's twisted generosity.

In Suicide Squad, Jay Hernandez plays El Diablo, a member of Task Force X. The team consists of a group of super villains who have been tasked with a secret mission by the government in exchange for their freedom. But there is a catch. This is an impossible mission, and it's unlikely that any of them will come home in anything other than a body bag. Jay Hernandez shared his gift from the Joker while on set in Toronto, where shooting is nearing it's end. He stated the following.

"My dear friend The Joker gave me a gift...inside is a glimpse into the mind of a mad man. #putasmileonthatface"

So, what was inside the Joker's infamous box? Jay Hernandez received a letter addressed to his character, a deck of Joker playing cards, and something wrapped in paper. What is it? Who knows, Jay Hernandez dare not open it, especially after some of the other things that have been sent to the set by The Joker.

Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot in the DC Comics adventure, first reported on Jared Leto's wacky behavior on set. Speaking with E! Online, the actor revealed that Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn, and Will Smith, who stars as Deadshot, got some even more unexpected presents from the wild card.

"He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it-a live rat. It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter, and a dead hog...Basically, what he said was, 'Guys, I can't be there but I want you to know I'm doing my work as hard as you guys.' The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realized that day, this is real."

After becoming a mascot on set, the rat was later adopted by director Guillermo del Toro. His new pet is still alive and well, going by the name of Venustiano, presumably after Mexican Revolution leader José Venustiano Carranza Garza. Jay Hernandez shared a second photo of Margot Robbie holding a sign for Harley Quinn's Tattoo Parlore. It was reported earlier in the week that the cast had been giving each other matching tattoos. Joel Kinnaman got his personalized "Skwad" tattoo from co-star Will Smith. Director David Ayer got his from Harley Quinn himself. Jay Hernandez has also posted an image of weapons on a park bench along with a manual from Arkham Asylum.
