Now, don't get too excited! Suicide Squad has released the first cast photo, but everyone is out of costume. And one key member is missing. David Ayer shared this first look at his super villain team on his personal twitter page, and it gives us a pretty good idea about what we can expect to see on the big screen next year.

Today was the official cast read through for the DC and Warner Bros. comic book adventure Suicide Squad. Standing alongside David Ayer, we see Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn}, Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). You'll notice that Jared Leto, who plays the most iconic of all these villains The Joker, is absent. Its most likely because he is still on the road touring with his band 30 Second to Mars.

Shooting is getting very close as everything comes together on the Canadian set of Suicide Squad. The movie revolves around a group of super villains who take on a dangerous mission for the government, hoping to clear their names. No further details have been officially announced at this time, but David Ayer has teased that his script will be based on the New 52 version of these characters. The action is said to take place between the events of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it obviously ties into those two films as DC and Warner Bros. set out to set up their own cinematic universe. David Ayer loves to tweet production photos from the set of his latest projects, so we're probably only a few days away from seeing this rag tag team in their official costumes. The question is, will Jared Leto join them?
