Now that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has already hit theaters, many DC fans are turning their attention to the second movie in Warner Bros.' sprawling /dc-movie-production-schedule-dceu-deborah-snyder/DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Suicide Squad. With an August 5 release date in place, Suicide Squad could very well be a late-summer hit at the box office, and today, as part of USA Today's summer movie preview, we have two new photos, plus an international trailer with bits and pieces of new footage. Here's what director David Ayer had to say about about the unique characters who make up the Suicide Squad.

"(The movie takes) these people who are rejected by the world, who think they aren't good people, beyond just 'Hey, we're villains and we do bad things,' but are really people who believe they are deserving of love and friendship."

The all-star ensemble cast for Suicide Squad includes Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), and Jay Hernandez (El Diablo). Scott Eastwood and Ray Olubowale also appear in the movie, but their characters have not been revealed. One of these new photos features the whole squad together, while the other features Deadshot, Rick Flagg and Killer Croc.

Earlier today Deadpool just became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time with $745 million worldwide, breaking the 13-year record held by The Matrix Reloaded. Some thought that the success of Deadpool could push a movie like Suicide Squad to get an R rating, but producer Charles Roven confirmed earlier this week that they're sticking with a PG-13 rating. However, back in November, Charles Roven teased that they plan on pushing the PG-13 rating as far as they can with Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad will be going up against The Weinstein Company's drama The Founder and EuropaCorp's comedy Nine Lives on August 5. This superhero adventure should have no trouble taking down The Founder and Nine Lives at the box office, but we'll have to wait and see. While we wait for more on this superhero adventure check out the international trailer and new photos.
