Summer films have jacked up advance ticket sales 50 percent over last year’s advance sales figures for the same time period, according to AOL Moviefone. Moviefone credits Spider-Man 2, The Bourne Supremacy and I, Robot for the marked jump in sales. Interest in Shrek 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, as well as The Day After Tomorrow also spurred on stronger online ticket sales traffic. According to Nielsen, this summer reflects a six percent jump in ticket sales over last summer as of mid-August.

Moviefone also confirms steady summer ticket sales for The Notebook, The Terminal as well as the documentaries Fahrenheit 9/11 and Super Size Me.
