According to Variety, indie studio "Summit Entertainment has acquired feature rights to the romantic comedy Kicked, Bitten and Scratched, set in the world of animal training."

The film will be "based on Amy Sutherland's books Kicked, Bitten and Scratched: Life and Lessons at the World's Premier School for Exotic Animal Trainers and What Shamu Taught Me About Life, Love and Marriage."

Scribes Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky "are penning the screenplay, centered on a fast-talking Los Angeles Times reporter and her laid-back comicbook artist husband who wants her to have a baby. When an assignment takes her to a school for exotic animal training, she discovers a possible cure for her marriage problems."
