The trailer for Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken has just been released and Morgan Spurlock is shaking things up again. While 2004's Super Size Me saw Spurlock eating nothing but fast food for 30 days, the sequel is providing a new twist, which has been called "a revelation." The first documentary gained a ton of attention and even earned an Academy Award nomination in the process. Since then, Spurlock has done other documentary projects, but this is bringing it all back to the fast food game.

The full title of the sequel is Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken and it obviously has to do with the most consumed animal on the planet. Instead of living off of fast food for 30 days and getting sick, Morgan Spurlock is attempting to start his own fast food chain, specializing in fried chicken. The trailer shows Spurlock as he goes to find a farm to raise his own chickens and prepare them for the restaurant. While the trailer doesn't give away a whole lot, there's enough to get fans of the original documentary hooked in.

It appears Morgan Spurlock is going to attempt to open his own fried chicken restaurant by being completely honest with his customers in Super Size Me 2. Over the years, as the trailer shows, the word "fried" has been replaced with "crispy." Fried has negative connotations, while crispy sounds like a special feature. Plus, adding fresh greens and other vegetables has been another way to try and show how deceptively healthy a fried chicken sandwich can be. Spurlock will more than likely show what free range actually means and produce factual nutrition labels.

As for the tone of Super Size Me 2, it seems very much like the original 2004 documentary. One has to give Morgan Spurlock credit for coming up with an innovative sequel instead of doing a carbon copy of the first documentary. With that being said, viewers would more than likely want to see an updated version of the original movie since there has been a major push for fast food chains to make their products more healthy over the years. There's always the outliers like Carl's Jr. and Hardees, who like to flaunt how unhealthy their food is, while offering healthier choices at the same time, but for the most part, health is the big part of the equation.

Super Size Me 2 comes after Morgan Spurlock stepped down from his production company during the height of the #MeToo movement in late 2017. Spurlock admitted to sexual misconduct in the past and apologized before getting called out by an accuser. He also admitted to settling a harassment allegation and cheating on his wives and girlfriends over the years. It will be interesting to see how the sequel is received when it hits theaters on September 19th. Will there still be a backlash, or will Spurlock be ok because he owned up to his past mistakes?
