'I feel like I've heard this story before...' Declares Cat Grant. Melissa Benoist stands defiant as Kara Zor-El, ensuring everyone this is going to be different. 'This is my story!' She proclaims, before rocketing into the air for more adventures. Last night, Supergirl had its official debut on CBS, and it did not disappoint. Now comes an all new Season 1 trailer, which teases what we can expect to see in the coming weeks.

Being a superhero is not a job Kara takes lightly. Flying in the shadow of Superman, she sets out to prove she is as capable as her cousin in saving the citizens of earth. Supergirl shows off some of her powers, like breathing her ice cold breath to put out a blazing fire. And we get to see her kicking ass as some of the prisoners from the Phantom Zone set out to make their mark as supervillains. They don't get too far with Supergirl on their tail. This latest sneak peek offers our first look at such super villains as Non, Red Tornado, and Vartox. We're also introduced to the show's big bad aunt Astra and we get to meet Lucy Lane for the first time.

Melissa Benoist stars in Supergirl Season 1 as the title character Kara Zor-El. She is joined by a cast that also includes Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, whom she clearly has a crush on in this latest footage. Though, she'll have to contend with his former girlfriend Lucy Lane, played by Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Calista Flockhart stars as Kara's overbearing boss Cat Grant. Also appearing in the series is Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Kara's birth mother from the planet Krypton, who has left a series of important messages for her daughter. Chyler Leigh is Alexandra "Alex" Danvers, Jeremy Jordan is Winslow "Winn" Schott, Iddo Goldberg is Red Tornado, David Harewood is Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli is Maxwell Lord, and Dean Cain and Helen Slater star as Kara Zor-El's adoptive Earh parents.

Supergirl arrives from Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions, the producers behind the hit DC Comics series Arrow and The Flash. Supergirl is based on the characters from DC Comics and follows Kara Zor-El, who escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents' help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.

Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant, who just hired the Daily Planet's former photographer, James Olsen, as her new art director. However, Kara's days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.
