Ever since Supergirl debuted in October, Kara Zor-El's famous cousin Kal-El, a.k.a. Superman, has been either hinted at or seen from a distance. Back in November, we reported that the show was finally casting for the Superman role, but there's a twist: it will be a 13-year-old Man of Steel. Today, we have new photos from next week's episode, For the Girl Who Has Everything, which gives us our first look at the young Kal-El, played by Daniel DiMaggio.

Our report from November, before Daniel DiMaggio was cast, revealed that this could be a recurring role on the series, although the young Superboy won't be wearing his iconic blue and red tights just yet. Our earlier report revealed these flashback scenes will take place while young Clark is living on Mom and Pop Kent's farm, and these scenes were said to establish a strong family bond between Kal-El and Kara Zor-El, memories that are cherished by Supergirl. It seems those details may not be accurate, though, according to a description of the episode below, which explains how these flashbacks come into play.

"Kara's friends must find a way to save her life when a parasitic alien attaches itself to her and traps her in a dream world where her family is alive and her home planet was never destroyed. Kara's beloved cousin Kal-El joins her and her parents in domestic Kryptonian bliss, where neither of them needed to escape to Earth, or become super heroes. Also, Alex, Hank and the DEO must fend off a Kryptonian attack while Kara is out of commission."

Last week, we reported the news that DC Comics fans have been waiting for, that The CW's The Flash will actually come to National City for a Supergirl crossover episode. The episode will air March 28 on CBS, with The Flash star Grant Gustin guest starring in this special episode. Unfortunately, no plot details have been revealed quite yet, and it isn't clear if any other stars from The Flash will be joining Grant Gustin.

We also reported last month that Tom Welling, who played the Man of Steel on The CW's long-running series Smallville, hasn't been asked to return as Superman quite yet. It still isn't known if the adult version of Superman will ever actually show his face in the series, so we'll have to wait and see how this pans out. Until then, take a look at these new photos from next week's Supergirl episode, For the Girl Who Has Everything.
