Supernatural is getting ready to debut what could be their craziest season ever, where the Winchester Brothers battle Adolf Hitler and a new Lucifer, played by Rick Springfield, but is the show also prepping its endgame? The show's stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles and executive producer Robert Singer recently teased that they've been eyeing the 300th episode to wrap up the series, although that's still a long way off. If they do hit that mark, the 300th episode should fall right in the middle of Season 14.

Fans have enjoyed the Winchester Brothers' exploits for 241 episodes over the course of 11 seasons, and The CW President Mark Pedowitz recently said that they have no plans to bring the show to an end, as long as the stars are happy and the ratings are steady. Supernatural is still quite popular, as proven yesterday with the long-running series beating out 63 new and returning shows to win Entertainment Weekly's cover contest. The site recently spoke to both stars and Robert Singer, who have all teased that 300 episodes may be a good stopping point. Here's what Jensen Ackles had to say below.

"In a marathon, I keep my sights on that next mile, wherever that might be. And 300's a good number to work for."

EW reports that the 300th episode would be the 13th episode of Season 14, and that the actors and Robert Singer have entertained the option of airing a shortened, 13-episode Season 14 as its last hurrah. The producer revealed that, while he doesn't know what will happen in the finale, he wants the show to certainly get a proper send-off for Sam and Dean. Here's what he had to say below.

"We talked about wanting to be able to know when our end was, and if it was to be, let's say, 300 episodes, we could tell a 13-episode story. I think it would be bad for this show to just ride off in the sunset without a finale. I think we've earned that. I don't know what that finale is, but we'd certainly like to do one."

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles also joked about who would get their iconic Chevy Impala Baby once the show came to a close. Jared Padalecki confirmed that his co-star would get Baby, while Ackles added that his co-star would get "Baby 3," since "Baby 2" is a stunt car. Even though it seems clear the show could continue much longer, the stars aren't taking anything for granted. Here's what Jared Padalecki had to say about how "bummed" they'd be if they don't make it to Episode 300.

"If we don't make it to 300, I think Ackles and I will both be truly bummed. When we get to 300, I think Ackles and I will think it might be time to say bye. There's a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we're going to make it to 300. I feel I've learned a lot from my friend Sam. I've learned a lot from my friend Dean. I want to tell that story as well as possible as long as possible, but I don't want it to get too long in the tooth."

Jensen Ackles chimed in that he has never shown up to set and felt like he didn't care about the show, and if that ever happened, it would be time to call it quits. Still, he has never felt that happen after 11 full seasons, while reiterating that he would still like to make it to Episode 300. Here's what he had to say below.

"I feel like if I ever show up to set and I feel like I don't care, or if I feel like he doesn't care, then that's the canary leaving the mine. To this day, I have not really ever sensed that from myself or him... They're paying us to bring that little bit of magic to what they wrote, and I still feel that magic today. The day that I don't feel that magic will be a very sad day, and I hope that day never comes. I'd like to get to 300 before that day comes."

Supernatural returns with the Season 12 premiere on Thursday, October 13 at 9 PM ET, and to help pass the time, The CW has released four new photos. The Season 11 finale of The CW's long-running hit Supernatural ended with quite the cliffhanger, with the re-emergence of Sam and Dean's mother Mary (Samantha Smith) found alive in the woods, wearing the same nightgown she had on the night she supposedly died. The Season 12 premiere will be a continuation of the Supernatural Season 11 finale cliffhanger, where Sam (Jared Padalecki) was seemingly shot by Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore), a member of the London Men of Letters. While we wait for the new season, check out the photos below.
