One of the several movies celebrating a historic anniversary this year is Trainspotting, director Danny Boyle's breakout hit which was released almost exactly 20 years ago. After years of rumors and speculation, the long-awaited sequel Trainspotting 2 started production this year, with Sony Pictures setting a February 10, 2017 release date. Although we got the first trailer in May when production started, today we have a new teaser trailer, which gives us our first look at the four main stars, Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle.

We only get a quick glance at Ewan McGregor as Renton, Ewen Bremner as Spud, Johnny Lee Miller as Sick Boy and Robert Carlyle as Begbie. Though not confirmed in this teaser, Kelly MacDonald is also reprising her role as Diane. Kevin McKidd is the only cast member from Trainspotting who won't be back in front of the camera, since his character, Tommy, passed away in the first movie. The screenplay for Trainspotting 2 is based on author Irvine Welsh's follow-up novel to Trainspotting titled Porno, but as we can see in this trailer from YouTube that novel title was not used.

Director Danny Boyle has decided against using that as the title of his sequel for good reason. The movie will be a loose adaptation of the source material. But a different title will also clear up any confusion for those searching the movie on the Internet. The first trailer teased that the title may very well be T2, which is confirmed with this new trailer stating the full title is T2: Trainspotting 2. Of course, most fans won't be confusing this movie with the other T2, 1991's iconic sci-fi action sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

In Porno, Sick Boy returns to Edinburgh with plans to make a porn movie with the help of his friend Renton. But Begbie is hellbent on seeking revenge against the two after being released from prison. And Spud gets wrapped up in the whole mess, playing both sides. It isn't known how much this new story will deviate from the book, or how differently things will play out in the end.

In addition, we also have the first new photo from Trainspotting 2, which arrives in theaters on February 10, 2017, going up against some heavy competition. The sequel will be going up against Fifty Shades Darker, John Wick: Chapter Two and The Lego Batman Movie next year. Andrew Macdonald, Danny Boyle, Christian Colson, and Bernie Bellew are producing through Figment Films, Decibel Films, and Cloud Eight Films. Film4 is also involved in the production. Trainspotting 2 will celebrate the 21st birthday of the original film. Take a look at the new trailer and photos, and stay tuned for more on Trainspotting 2.
