First there was an opportunity. Then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).

Other old friends are waiting too: Sorrow, Loss, Joy, Vengeance, Hatred, Friendship, Love, Longing, Fear, Regret, Diamorphine, Self-Destruction and Mortal Danger. They are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance. Director Danny Boyle reunites the original cast with Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle leading an all-new tale.

Today, we have a full trailer for T2 Trainspotting, which delves into the story aspects behind this sequel. T2 Trainspotting first makes its debut in the UK on January 27, 2017. And then it hits U.S. shores on February 10, 2017, marking the 21st birthday of the original film. And as you can see in the latest footage, it's definitely a reunion to celebrate.

The screenplay for Trainspotting 2 is based on author Irvine Welsh's follow-up novel to Trainspotting titled Porno. Director Danny Boyle decided against using the original title of his sequel for good reason. The movie will be a loose adaptation of the source material. But a different title clears up any confusion for those searching the movie on the Internet.

In the Porno book, Sick Boy returns to Edinburgh with plans to make a porn movie with the help of his friend Renton. But Begbie is hellbent on seeking revenge against the two after being released from prison. And Spud gets wrapped up in the whole mess, playing both sides. From the looks of things, it's Renton who must return to face his friends in the big screen version of the sequel.

T2 will be going up against Fifty Shades Darker, John Wick: Chapter Two and The Lego Batman Movie next year. Andrew Macdonald, Danny Boyle, Christian Colson, and Bernie Bellew are producing through Figment Films, Decibel Films, and Cloud Eight Films. Film4 is also involved in the production.
