While fans throughout the world are dazzled by fluffy romantic Korean dramas, they have yet to discover the genre's ultimate grandeur. Sure, there are innumerable romantic dramas that leave viewers in tears towards the end, but Korean crime thrillers take the experience to a whole new level. Dramas like Stranger, Signal, and 2021's hit Taxi Driver demonstrated this fact many times. After the popularity of the first season of Taxi Driver, the creators announced a second season, and fans have been waiting in bated breath to see Lee Je Hoon assert his dominance once more.

Taxi Driver, an action crime thriller drama, was released on April 9, 2021, and enthralled action fans with breathtaking action choreography and heartbreaking portrayals of true events. The drama was adapted from the webtoon The Deluxe Taxi created by Carlos and Lee Jae-in. Sadly, almost all the events in the series were inspired by real-life heinous crimes committed in South Korea.

While there is much to look forward to in the upcoming season, given that there is still content left to adapt from the source material, here's everything we know about Taxi Driver season two, one of the most anticipated Korean crime thriller dramas.

Taxi Driver Season 2: The Plot

Taxi Driver's first season chronicled the mission of Rainbow Taxi, led by Jang Sung Chul (Kim Eui Sung), who took the law into their own hands and began punishing criminals in their own way while also assisting those who couldn't receive justice through democracy. Kim Do Gi (Lee Je Hoon), the core member, and Ahn Go Eun, Park Jin Eon, and Choi Kyung Goo, the assistant crew, began pursuing criminals while evading the attorney Kang Ha Na's clutches. Jang Sung Chul was betrayed following the encounter with Baek Sung Mi, but she was eventually apprehended by Kim Do Gi and handed over to the prosecution after being found guilty of unspeakable crimes. However, after being disbanded for a while, the squad eventually reunited with the addition of Kang Ha Na near the end of the first season.

Taxi Driver's second season teaser has been released by SBS, promising viewers a continuation of the series' signature adventures set in what appears to be Vietnam. With Kim Do Gi pursuing the criminals and closing down their illegal operations, Ahn Go Eun, who became a police officer at the end of the first season, will assist them from the other side of the law. While the teaser didn't show much due to its briefness, two glimpses appeared to be quite intriguing.

Despite Kang Ha Na not revealing their vigilantism in the first season, Jang Sung Chul is arrested by the police in the teaser, signaling a new nemesis from the side of the law. In another scene, the drama depicts a different version of Kim Do Gi, maybe his prior self during his time in the Special Forces.

Given how the first season focused on a few characters, almost the entire main cast will return for the second season. This time around, Lee Je Hoon will reprise his role as Kim Do Gi, destroying foes left and right while assuming guises that best suit the situation. The actor made his breakthrough with the 2011 indie film Bleak Night but rose to fame with the dramas Signal, One Dollar Lawyer, and Hot Stove League. One of his most recent dramas, Move to Heaven, released in 2021, is currently the highest-rated drama on MyDramaList.

Kim Eui Sung and Pyo Ye Jin will both reprise their roles as Jang Sung Chul and Ahn Go Eun, respectively. The former is an award-winning actor who has starred in blockbusters such as Train to Busan and Rampant. In addition to his portrayal as San Woong Niruha in Arthdal Chronicles, he is also recognized for his role as Cha Byung Jun in Memories of Alhambra. Pyo Ye Jin, on the other hand, is a versatile actress who infuses passion into every role she plays. She starred in the dramas Fight for My Way and Love Returns, for which she received Best Actress nominations at the KBS Drama Awards. Her most prominent roles include Hotel Del Luna, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, V.I.P., and Lovestruck in the City.

Unfortunately, despite joining the Rainbow Taxi at the end of the first season, Esom will not be appearing in the second season as Kang Ha Na. Though these actors will be the focus of the drama, here is a peek at the rest of the cast: Jang Hyuk Jin, Bae Yoo Ram, Shin Jae Ha, and Lee Min Jae.

The second season also replaces Park Joon Woo as a director with Lee Dan, and Oh Sang Ho returns to write the script. This drama marks the debut of director Lee Dan, while Oh Sang Ho's previous credits include White Night, Fabricated City, and The Legend of the Seven Cutter.
