When it comes to casting The Expendables 2, the focus seems to be on aging action stars who've gone into semi-retirement, or who are heading into their Golden Years. We've heard that Donnie Yen has been offered a part. Oldies such as John Travolta, Chuck Norris, and Jean-Claude Van Damme have all been rumored to be joining the sequel as well.
Now comes news that three other aging action icons are being added to this wish list. Christian Slater, Christopher Lambert, and Nicolas Cage are at the top of Sylvester Stallone's wanted roster. But in the past, the one thing he's always made clear is, he will add some new blood to this sequel.
The only name we've heard tossed about in recent months is Ryan Seacrest, who has never acted in any action movie before. Though, Sylvester Stallone seems quite serious about casting him in some capacity. Now, we have word that Taylor Lautner is the number one new guy they want to add to the cast.
Lionsgate is quite pleased with Taylor Lautner's role in the upcoming action flick Abduction, and they are pulling hard for him to be in the movie. Sylvester Stallone is also impressed with the nineteen-year-old's physic and stunt performing abilities. He seems to be one of the few young actors out there, with the exception of Marvel's stable of buff dudes, that can actually go toe-to-toe with some of these aging, yet still in great shape, icons of the action genre.
Who else in the younger age range can you think of? Let us know your thoughts below. An official The Expendables 2 casting announcement is expected soon.
