Writer-director Seth MacFarlane revealed on his Twitter page this week that he is aiming to release the comedy sequel Ted 2 in the spring of 2015.

Ted 2 set for Passover 2015 releasePassover begins on Friday, April 3 in the year 2015, which is also Easter weekend. It also puts some space between the movie and what will likely be one of the most competitive and biggest summer movie seasons in recent memory, with highly-anticipated movies such as {2}, {3}, {4} and {5} slated for release that year.

Ted 2 was first confirmed by Universal Pictures last September, but we haven't heard anything about the project since then. Seth MacFarlane is expected to return as writer-director and the voice of Ted, along with Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett. Seth MacFarlane co-wrote the original Ted screenplay with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, but it isn't known if the writers are coming back for the sequel. Ted took in a whopping $394 million worldwide during its theatrical run last summer.

Seth MacFarlane is currently directing the Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, which is slated for release on May 30, 2014. It is believed that the filmmaker will start shooting Ted 2 in the summer of 2014 after A Million Ways to Die in the West is released.
