Universal Pictures has announced a June 26, 2015 release date for Ted 2. The comedy sequel currently doesn't have any competition as of yet, but it falls just between Disney's Inside Out on June 19 and Paramount's Terminator 5 on July 1.

Writer-director Seth MacFarlane revealed in August that he was aiming for a Passover 2015 release date, which would have been April 3, 2015. Since the original Ted was the highest-grossing R-rated comedy in history, taking in $394 million worldwide, the summer release date makes more sense than a spring debut.

Mark Wahlberg is returning to star as John Bennett, with Seth MacFarlane providing the voice of his talking teddy bear, Ted. Seth MacFarlane is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild.

No story details have been confirmed as of yet. It is believed that production will begin next summer, after Seth MacFarlane's Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West is released.
