Ted Danson has parlayed his latest Emmy nomination into another series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Danson has signed on to co-star in the HBO pilot Bored to Death.

The pilot, written by Jonathan Ames and directed by Alan Taylor, will center on Jason Schwartzman's lead character, an alcoholic writer who pretends to be a noir detective in the vein of Raymond Chandler and Dasheil Hammett novels. Danson has signed on to play his magazine editor/semi-mentor.

No production schedule was given for the series, but it was said that Danson will appear in up to three episodes of the next season of Damages, repirising his Emmy-nominated turn as Arthur Frobisher.
