Earlier today, we reported that Paramount moved G.I. Joe Retaliation from June 29 to March 29, 2013, for a 3D conversion. Universal Pictures isn't letting that prime release date go to waste, moving the comedy Ted into the vacated June 29 slot.

The Seth MacFarlane-directed comedy was originally slated for a July 13 release, where it would have gone up against the Fox animated sequel Ice Age: Continental Drift. Ted will have a bit more competition now, facing Warner Bros.' Magic Mike, Disney's People Like Us, and Lionsgate's Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection in its new release date.

The R-rated comedy centers on John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), who made a childhood wish that his teddy bear would come to life. Years later, the teddy bear (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) still lives with him, although the stuffed animal has become a bad influence on John.

It remains to be seen if another studio will stake a claim for Ted's vacated July 13 release date.
