Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 has found its director in David Green, best known for this past summer's Earth to Echo. While Jonathan Liebesman was expected to return, Paramount decided to try a new approach, and held a director search these past couple of months. While there is hope that this sequel may be better the the lackluster reboot, it should be noted that Michael Bay is still on board as a producer.

Even though it has a strong fan base and has been around for decades, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles still proved to be a surprise hit at the box office, as some feared this take on the franchise was destined to bomb. It earned an estimated $464 million worldwide. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will still be produced by Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are writing the script. No Plot details are known at this time. It has also not yet been confirmed if Megan Fox will return as April O'Neil. Will Arnett has also not signed onto return.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 was given a 2016 release date during Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first weekend of release, before a director or any of the cast members were locked down. The film is a top priority for Paramount after its success this summer, and they want to make sure they keep fans happy. David Green is said to have been chosen for the job because he knows how to make a big movie on a small budget, which he proved with Earth to Echo, which only cost $13 million. At this time, Paramount has no comment.
