It was reported earlier in the week that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is set to start shooting in April. But production got underway on some early scenes this past week to take advantage of a basketball game between the LA Clippers and the New York Knicks. While talking about his cameo in the sequel, LA Clippers player J.J. Redick let it slip that the actual title of the movie is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell.
Half Shell has not been confirmed by anyone else associated with the film, and may only be a working title. J.J. Redick offered up the info during Grantland's "The Lowe Post" podcast. We have video from his appearance, with the reveal coming in at the 45 second mark. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Will Arnett's news cameraman Vern Fenwick takes his new girlfriend and supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio (playing herself) to watch the Clippers square off against the Knicks. No other details have been revealed, and it is not known if the Turtles themselves will hit the court.
Aside from J.J. Redick, other Clippers participating in the sequel include DeAndre Jordan, Matt Barnes, Austin Rivers, and Spencer Hawes. J.J. Redick says that 5 other Knicks players will also be included, but he doesn't name them, with addition shooting taking place inside Madison Square Garden. Dave Green (Earth to Echo) is directing from a script penned by original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writers Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec. Michael Bay is producing through his Platinum Dunes company. Check out the video, with J.J. Redick's coming in at the start of the interview.
