Just yesterday, producer Michael Bay confirmed that Krang is the main villain in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Today, we get our first look at the character as he will probably appear in the movie. Playmates has unveiled their new action figure line for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, though we should note that there might be some major changes before this reaches theaters.
Rolling Stone detailed a video conference meeting between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows producer Michael Bay and visual effects supervisor Pablo Helman from Industrial Light and Magic (ILM). During that call, Pablo Helman said his ILM team had eliminated the tentacles on Krang, before asking Michael Bay if he looks too "monster-ish." Here was the producer's response.
"He could have some tentacles. I just don't want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus."
Krang is very small, and hard too make out in the following images. But he looks pretty close to what we know from the cartoon series. And he will be housed inside Kraang. Though, we don't get to see his tentacles here. The new action figure line also includes a first look at the Technodrome, which has long been rumored to make an appearance in the movie.
These images arrive from Playmates Toys on the eve of the New York Toy Fair, happening later this year. The rest of the Turtles don't deviate too far from what we've seen in the first trailer. But we do get to see Leonardo in his Stealth Disguise, and for some reason, Michelangelo is dressed in a Pirates Costume. An alternate Raphael has the gang's leader in a makeshift wing suit. Donatello is the only Turtle not given an alternate figure design.
These latest images also reveal our first look at the new Casey Jones in his Hockey Mask and the big screen versions of fan favorites BeBop and Rocksteady. And it is revealed here that Shredder returns as The Shredder Destructor, which some are speculating is a robotic version of the iconic villain. Again, none of these toys are confirmed to appear in the movie, unless we've already seen them in the first trailer released. And some have expressed disappointment in the appearance of the Technodrome as it appears here. Take a look at these latest images and let us know what you think.
