Just a few days after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opened this past August, Paramount Pictures announced that the sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, will arrive in theaters on June 6, 2016. We haven't heard much about the sequel since then, but, while promoting their upcoming time travel adventure Project Almanac, producer Andrew Form confirmed that production is scheduled to begin very soon. Here's what he had to say below.

"We're in prep right now. We start shooting in New York in April."

Andrew Form, along with his producing partner Bradley Fuller, confirmed last month that popular villains Bebop and Rocksteady will be in the sequel, and that they are "trying to work in" Casey Jones as well. Andrew Form revealed that there were a number of characters they wanted to fit in the first movie, but now they have a chance to use them in the sequel.

"We designed and we did lots of work on all of them and then only so many fit in the box and luckily we have another chance to make another one of these movies and some of those characters that got cut out of the first one can make it into the second one."

Dave Green (Earth to Echo) is directing from a script by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writers André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum. No cast members have been confirmed for the sequel yet, although William Fichtner hinted to us in December that he will return as Eric Sacks. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further updates on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 as soon as we have more information.
