Earlier this week, we showed you a new trailer for one of this summer's biggest sequels, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which hits theaters on June 3. With less than a month left until this action-packed adventure arrives, we'll surely be getting much more footage in the weeks that follow. Today, we have a series of new character posters. These one-sheets feature our favorite turtles, swinging into action as they fight to save their city from the nefarious Shredder, along with plenty of new villains.
After super villain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop and Rocksteady, to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang. Portlandia star Fred Armisen has come aboard to voice Krang, joining a stellar cast. These posters from the Paramount UK Twitter feed don't feature Shredder, Krang, Bebop or Rocksteady, but it's possible that these villains will get their own one-sheets in the near future.
Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Noel Fisher (Michelangelo), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo) and Jeremy Howard (Donatello) all return to reprise their roles as the Turtles, along with Megan Fox (April O'Neill), Will Arnett (Vern Fenwick) and William Fichtner (Eric Sacks). Tyler Perry has come aboard to play Baxter Stockman, alongside Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, Brian Tee as Shredder and Brittany Ishibashi as Karai. Laura Linney also joins the cast as a law enforcement officer.
Dave Green (Earth to Echo) directs from a script by André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum. The screenwriters also wrote last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which took in $485 million worldwide from a $125 million budget, and they also wrote the 2011 blockbuster Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, which was released by Paramount. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is slated for release on June 3, putting it up against Universal Pictures' Popstar: Never Stop Stopping. It's possible that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 could put up even bigger numbers than its predecessor, but we'll have to wait and see.
In addition to the character posters, we also have another one-sheet that features all four heroes in a half-shell together, courtesy of Paramount UK. With the addition of fan favorite characters like Casey Jones, Bebop & Rocksteady and Krang, this sequel could lure in more hardcore fans from the original comic books and animated series, but we'll have to wait and see. While we continue the countdown towards the June 3 release, take a look at these new posters below.
