Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will feature alien origin story says Michael Bay
Platinum Dunes producer Michael Bay stopped by the Nickelodeon upfront presentation in New York last week, where he revealed some intriguing information about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, which is being produced by Nickelodeon Movies in conjunction with Platinum Dunes and Paramount Pictures.

Here's what Michael Bay had to say, revealing that the Turtles will get a new Alien-based origin.

"When you see this movie, kids will believe one day that these turtles do exist. These turtles are from an alien race, and they're going to be tough, edgy, funny, and completely lovable."

Previous reports have indicated that this would be a completely new re-imagining of these crime-fighting turtle characters, and an origin story involving an alien race of turtles certainly falls in line with that news.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol writers André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum are penning the script. We reported last month that Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans) is being courted to direct. No production schedule has been given for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
